Sculpture

New Challenge:  S.C.U.L.P.T.U.R.E Yup, the new project is to create a free-form sculpture! Lots of questions pop up.... what is a free-form sculpture? In short, it is a modern style three dimension visual art that is in irregular contour. A wide variety of materials may be worked by removal such as carving, assembled by welding or modelling, or molded, or cast. The theme for the sculpture is 'Harmony'. It was a tough task for me as I never come into sculpture making before.  After brainstorming and struggles, an idea appears in my mind--- circle. It is smoothly curved and has no edge, which indicates no conflict and disagreement, bringing the sign of harmony.        Bent iron wires into circles      Use aluminium foil to wrap the iron circles. I named my sculpture 'Circles'. It was formed by joining sixteen iron circles wrapped with aluminium foil. These circles represent thirteen states and three federal territories of our country

Natural And Man-Made Structures

This week, we need to submit: Black and white sketch of natural structure (eg. plants, animals, structures that animal builds, existed due to Earth formation and weathering). Coloured man-made structure (eg. bus station, car porch, covered pathway, waqf) Since those structures are needed to be found in USM campus, I had a walking discover trip with my friends. We walked around the campus and had a lot of fun instead of feeling stress of the studio projects. Stewardship

First Studio Project On Hand: Stewardship. For this task, I need to sketch my self portrait and write an essay about my background and future vision. It was not my first time of sketching self portrait, but not my own one! Never think of sketching my own portrait before. Some Tips On Sketching Self Portrait From Google: Start with a light sketch.  Sketch the outlines of major features like face shape, eyes, nose and hair. Add shadow and smudge them using fingers or smudging tools to create realistic shadow effects. Do the hairline. Fill in with thick lines, follow by adding shadow and hightlight. Fine details come last. Take some time filling in places in eyes and lips.  Add some shadowing to the neck so that the face does not appear as floating in the air.   -End of chapter-

Let's Learn About Architectural Lettering If You Want To be A Designer

First Lesson In Design Class: Learn How To Write A rchitectural Lettering If you think the first lesson in design class is something about design theory/ philosophy or probably some sketching, you are definitely wrong! If you want to be a designer or architect, your handwriting couldn't be sucks!  First of all, practice your handwriting, not freehand writing, but architectural lettering. Eventhough our drawings nowadays depend on AutoCad and some other softwares, in the past designers were drawing manually and therefore neat handwriting is crucial. Maybe You Will Be wondering: What Is An Architectural lettering? It is expected as a designer or architect that all blueprints, drawings and designs have architectural lettering. This lettering was established ages ago by architects so that all writing on blueprints were legible therefore costly mistakes would not be made. Practicing this lettering is still a necessary part of the curriculum in most architectu
