RUS 104 XZbition 2013

Task of the week: a self organised exhibition event in The Drum. We are going to design our booth and display selected studioworks. This time we will combine with Urban and Regional Planning students as a booth to compete with three other booths. There are a number of five booths which are: Booth 1: Interior design with urban and regional planning Booth 2: Architecture Booth 3: Quantity surveying and construction management Booth 4: Building surveying and building technology Booth 5: Integrated group which displays the amphitheatre stage models which were done in  project 6 Ground floor level                                                                      First floor level The theme for the exhibition is 'Floating Lines'. We were allowed to use any possible materials to desig...

Amphitheathre Stage Model

After the proposal, we proceed to the model making. It was sure that this gonna be a big project. The scale for the model is 1:5, therefore our model was estimated to be 1.2m (length)x 1.0m (width)x 1.0m (height). Time is far not enough, so just pull up the socks and get it done! We used timber as main material for the model. Other materials like pelaka and wood shellac (for painting), light bulbs (for lighting effect), nails, screws are needed.  As IBS method was proposed for our amphitheatre stage, we also applied the same method on the model making. Cut the appropriate lengths of timber. We painted the model with white pelaka as we thought it is the most suitable and  charming colour for the model. Jointed them together by using various jointing methods, nailing and screwing. Set them up. Same procedures go to staircase and ramp model making. To make them as one, I applied the same cocoon concept on the lamp covers and  handrails of staircase and ...

Amphitheatre Stage

We are going to design an amphitheatre stage! Imagine a space located beside HBP studio which is 40mx50m, we have to design a 4.0m (width) x 6.0m (length) x 5.0m (height) amphitheatre stage with at least 100 audience seatings.  PROPOSED SITE FOR ‘AMPHITHEATRE STAGE’ PROPOSED SITE (CONTOUR PLAN) FOR ‘AMPHITHEATRE STAGE’ The stage is needed to have roof and use timber as main material. We are divided into 16-people groups. All the group members are representing different courses in HBP, symbolises the real construction and design team in construction industry. This is a BIG BIG BIG project! Site analysis, architectural and interior design, structure and material selection, simple costing, project management and construction technique are to be done in this project. It is like we are going to be a real working team and compete for a tender. Exciteness, worries and a lot of question marks filled up my mind. Some introduction about an amphitheathre:...

Neighbourhood Elements

Neighbourhood elements are about site analysis and improvement proposal. We are given six new developed neighbourhood areas as following: Bayan Residences, Relau, Penang Sunway Mutiara, Batu Maung, Penang Sunway Bukit Gambier, Penang Siara 81, Sg. Ara, Penang Sunway Merica, Sg. Ara, Penang Setia Greens, Sg. Ara, Penang I chose Siara 81 as my analysis target. Since it is quite far from USM campus, I went together with my friends in group. Property project : Siara 81 Location             : Sungai Ara, Penang Property type     : Two-storey terrace( 75 units), t wo-storey semi-detached ( 6 units) Developer          : Iconic Properties Sdn. Bhd Terrace type Semi-detached type A small temple in the neighbourhood Open space Playground Analysis is presented graphically. Some important features: Location plan, key plan, site plan, scale, sun path, direction of prevailing wind, ...

Presentation Drawings

This is something I never expected. Blueprint,  a technical drawing that acts as a plan or model.  It documents an engineering or architecture design. Examples of blueprint: I need to draw the blueprints of 'THE HEXA' that I had done in the previous project! It is a very tough job as the design is quite complicated. Gotta pull up my socks to finish the project in time. Plan, front, rear, left and right view Two point perspectives to draw out 'The Hexa' with a human figure to indicate the scale                 Axonometric Drawing- isometric which is in 30 degree elevation Colour with Alpha Water Colors PS: I made mistakes in the drawing: the furniture should have some thickness to indicate its volume.  It is learning process anyway.
