Amphitheathre Stage Model

After the proposal, we proceed to the model making.
It was sure that this gonna be a big project.
The scale for the model is 1:5, therefore our model was estimated to be 1.2m (length)x 1.0m (width)x 1.0m (height).
Time is far not enough, so just pull up the socks and get it done!

We used timber as main material for the model.
Other materials like pelaka and wood shellac (for painting), light bulbs (for lighting effect), nails, screws are needed.
As IBS method was proposed for our amphitheatre stage, we also applied the same method on the model making.
Cut the appropriate lengths of timber.
We painted the model with white pelaka as we thought it is the most suitable and charming colour for the model.
Jointed them together by using various jointing methods, nailing and screwing.
Set them up. Same procedures go to staircase and ramp model making.
To make them as one, I applied the same cocoon concept on the lamp covers and handrails of staircase and ramps.
Pre-making: some of the timbers

Done with staircase and ramps
There are two ramps for our amphitheatre stages: one is for entering the back stage and another one is for going up the stage.
Although it looked not so suitable to have two ramps for a small amphitheatre stage, we insisted to make it two.
We want to emphasize universal design to people, which is suitable for normal people and also disabled people.
Many designs often ignore the needs of disabled people and this will create a barrier between us.
Ramps are convenient to them and older people who are also facing the same problem to climb up the staircase.
We hope that our stage, The Enfold will be functional as same as its name, which means to hold within limits. We hope that everyone could feel the bonding between each other, not looking at social levels, status or power.
                                                              [Everyone is the same]

As I was incharged for the interior part, I tried to create something that will be stunning and attractive.
It was fun and interesting for me.
I applied the cocoon concept to lamp covers which would create a great lighting effect

Backdrop: The Enfold ( our amphitheatre stage's name)
                                                                  Galaxy 11  ( group's name)
                                                                  Always be a pioneer ( group's tagline)
First attempt for white grand piano model making

Great lighting effect with bulbs on

It was worthy to be sleepless when we saw the final outcome.
We were so satisfied with it and grateful to have each other as a team.
From site analysis, proposal to model making, finally Galaxy 11 has come to the end.

Let's Learn About Architectural Lettering If You Want To be A Designer

First Lesson In Design Class: Learn How To Write A rchitectural Lettering If you think the first lesson in design class is something about design theory/ philosophy or probably some sketching, you are definitely wrong! If you want to be a designer or architect, your handwriting couldn't be sucks!  First of all, practice your handwriting, not freehand writing, but architectural lettering. Eventhough our drawings nowadays depend on AutoCad and some other softwares, in the past designers were drawing manually and therefore neat handwriting is crucial. Maybe You Will Be wondering: What Is An Architectural lettering? It is expected as a designer or architect that all blueprints, drawings and designs have architectural lettering. This lettering was established ages ago by architects so that all writing on blueprints were legible therefore costly mistakes would not be made. Practicing this lettering is still a necessary part of the curriculum in most architectu...

Mind Maps, Mood Boards, Conceptual Models, Renderings

Back to second year. Unlike the first year where all the newbies studied the same courses together, we were separated into our majors in second year. Mine was interior design. Well, a brand new year. We moved to second year interior design studio (a small studio just to fit 20 persons) and we got new studiomasters! (as we have our studio project as the main subject, we called the lecturers as studiomasters, masters who lead the studio) So, how to start a design? Do mind mapping. Take a subject and start to elaborate about it. The core is to think.  After brainstorming, choose three design elements and principles that could make the design works. Design elements: point, line, shape, form, space, color and texture. Design principles: balance, proportion, perspective, emphasise, movement, pattern, repetition, rhythm, variety, harmony and unity. A simple example: start with flower as the subject, we can elaborate into colour (design element), organic shape(design eleme...

Presentation Drawings

This is something I never expected. Blueprint,  a technical drawing that acts as a plan or model.  It documents an engineering or architecture design. Examples of blueprint: I need to draw the blueprints of 'THE HEXA' that I had done in the previous project! It is a very tough job as the design is quite complicated. Gotta pull up my socks to finish the project in time. Plan, front, rear, left and right view Two point perspectives to draw out 'The Hexa' with a human figure to indicate the scale                 Axonometric Drawing- isometric which is in 30 degree elevation Colour with Alpha Water Colors PS: I made mistakes in the drawing: the furniture should have some thickness to indicate its volume.  It is learning process anyway.
