23 LoveLane Boutique Hotel

Last post we talked about mind maps, mood boards and conceptual models. This post I will share about my first studiowork using digital rendering. Back to the project in 2015, we had a lovely site visit to 23 LoveLane Boutique Hotel located in Love Lane, Georgetown Penang. It is a heritage building that hosts spacious rooms with different interior themes: Straits Eclectic Building, Indian Shop House, Indian Anglo Bungalow. 65 Steward Lane. There are few more rooms offered in another heritage building that is just few stones away. The design brief given was: Imagine you could give a new breath to the hotel, what would you do? As the hotel is a heritage building renovation under Core Zone, there is no hacking work allowed to be done to protect the existing structure. Therefore, this task would be more emphasizing on interior concept or rebranding. The Old Charm Of George Town

I was quite shock by the first project given in the first day of new semester. The task was to create a poster promoting the old charm of George Town.  Seven heritage buildings in the George Town World Heritage core zone were to be selected to be the main attractions of the poster. The task was a group project of three.  I was not having a really deep exploration to George Town on last semester since I was bombarded by the rushing studio projects. Soon after the morning session of studio, my studio masters allowed us to have a self visit to George Town for collecting information and data. George Town is really a great place to be visited. Filling with heritage buildings of various style from different era, fusion yet harmony. I felt like I was falling into a time machine and back to ancient time.
